My Soul Melts…

There is a verse in the book of Psalms and I find that it speaks to me more and more lately for various reasons. What is the verse? It is Psalm 119:28. “My soul melts from heaviness. Strengthen me according to Your Word.” You may be wondering why that verse of all the amazing ones in Psalms? It’s because it reveals a place that I think we – those of us seeking Him- have to get to so we can…

Prayer Life #29

More is at stake through our prayer life than what we think! Worldwide revival waits on the reverent, submissive prayer of God’s people, in the same way that Jesus submitted His life to the Father’s will and, in turn, was the instrument used to bring salvation. As we submit our lives to the Father’s will, He can then use our lives to touch a lost and hurting world. Prayer adjusted Jesus fully to the Father’s will and God’s great salvation…

Prayer Life #28

Because of Jesus’s prayer life and His obedience to what He learned, a watching world came to know and experience the wonders and the truths of the father. In John 14:9-10 Jesus proclaims, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” and “the Father who dwells in Me does the works.” When Jesus spoke these word He went on to makes this surprising statement to His disciples in John 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes…

Prayer Life #27

From Jesus’s times of prayer with the Father, followed by His obedience to the Father’s will as revealed in those times, Jesus did not fail in anything God gave Him to do. Because He always listened to His Father’s agenda and was always obedient, the Father was free to fully accomplish His eternal purposes through the Son.             Jesus knew that the Father had eternity in mind each time He prayed. This is revealed at the most crucial moment for…

Prayer Life #26

Jesus was faithful to live out obedience to the Father’s agenda and many times the disciples did not understand what He was doing. These were the times that He had to rebuke them and remind them of the Father’s activity. The most memorable time was in Matt. 16:21-22 Peter actually “took Him aside and began to rebuke Him” after Jesus had told the disciples that He must go to Jerusalem to be killed and be raised again the third day.…

Prayer Life #25

As Jesus understood the plan of God for His life, He also understood that without the guidance and the strength of the Father He would not be able to carry it out. Jesus understood His need for constant intervention from the Father, and His life from the very beginning proved His dependence on the Father. The constant witness we see from Jesus’s life is a life of empowerment through dependence on the mighty power of God the Father.             In…

West Virginia Deployment

Over the July 4th weekend CH Toni Barros and CH Brenda Swartz deployed to assist the flood victims in West Virginia. What a learning experience this was. Here are some of the highlights of what we learned; ~ Prior to leaving have a Rear Detachment set up to handle additional needs, logistics and information flow. Having a Rear Detachment (back home group of Chaplains) will allow research of shelters, contact names and additional needs getting done while the deployment group…
