2 Corinthians 12:10 “Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.”
The implications of Paul’s words in 2 Cor. 12:10 are: “When I am weak, emotionally, physically, or spiritually, then I am made strong through faith in Jesus.” Strength does not come through human ability to solve difficult issues; it comes through personal surrender, first to Him and then to the situation He has allowed to come into your life. To gain the victory, you have to allow Him to take control of all that concerns you. When you do, He will refresh you and provide the energy, the strength, and the wisdom you need for every situation.
Never ignore God’s call to prayer. Many people say that they are too busy to stop and pray. Others seem to be afraid of what He might show them if they do. They hesitate because they want to keep control of their lives. Just imagine trying to withhold something from the God of the universe, the One that knows all things, the One that created all things, the One that is over all things. All that sustains us in times of sin and resistance is the grace that He has extended to us. It is His grace that allows us to have a free will that is limited. In other words, God will let us go so far, but if we do not respond to His guidance, we will reap the consequences of our sinful action. He tells us in numbers 32:23 “Be sure your sin will find you out.” Sin involves many decisions and actions. But in every case, it leads to open rebellion against God.
Something else you need to remember is the fact that you do not have to understand how God will solve your problems. He knows exactly what needs to be done. Your job is to set the focus of your heart on obeying Him. This includes seeking Him in prayer. If you are going to find a solution for your problems this has to be a top priority. Many times the reason we do not get answers to our prayers is because we are in such a hurry. We are not willing to wait for God’s answer. One of the most rewarding experiences you will ever have is watching God work as a result of waiting for His timing.
Timing is everything to God. He has a plan for your life and He has a plan for all the events of history. He knows when a sparrow falls to the ground, and He knows when you need to take a step in a certain direction. The key to learning this is to be willing to wait for His timing, for His leading, and for His guidance. As you wait, set a goal to be in prayer. You can hold a prayer in your heart as long as you want; ‘God, heal my friend’; ‘Give me a promise to claim and to cling to when I sense the enemy coming close to me with temptation’; ‘protect me’; ‘Keep me focused on You so that I know Your truth and hold it in my heart’. There is any number of prayers you can pray in an instant and outside of the time that you spend in devotion to Him. 2 Chronicles 20:3, The King of Judah “turned his attention to seek the Lord.” He did not call the commanding generals together. Instead he went to the Lord in prayer, and God heard him. In fact, the Lord saw and heard the prayers of his people. Prayer should be a natural first response to any trouble you face.
