His Gifts – Our Service part 3

1 John 2:27 “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”

Believe that, as surely as you have part in Jesus, you have His Spirit too. Believe that He will do His work with power if you do not hinder Him. Believe that He is working, even when you cannot discern it. Believe that He will work mightily if you ask this from the Father. It is impossible to live the life of full abiding without being full of the Holy Spirit; believe that the fullness of the Holy Spirit is your daily portion. Be sure and take time in prayer to dwell before the throne of God and the Lamb, from which the river of the water of life flows. Cultivate carefully the habit of daily, quiet, restful confidence that he is doing His work in you. Let faith in His indwelling make you aware of anything in your life that would grieve Him. Let that faith get its nourishment from the Word and everything that it says about the Spirit, His power, His comfort, and His work. Let that faith in the Spirit’s indwelling lead you to look to Jesus and be occupied with Him.

Abide in Jesus, in the power of the Spirit. If we only knew the graciousness of the Holy Spirit and the blessedness of giving ourselves to Him. The Holy Spirit was given so that the glorious redemption and life in Jesus be conveyed and communicated to us with divine power. We have the Holy Spirit to make the living Jesus in all His saving power and in the completeness of His victory over sin, ever present in us. This is what makes Him the Comforter; with Him we never need to be absent from Jesus. As often as we read, or meditate or pray in connection with this abiding in Jesus, believe it as something that is already settled and we have the Spirit of God Himself in us teaching, and guiding, and working. Rejoice in the confidence that we have the Holy Spirit working in power in those that do not hinder Him by unbelief.
