Because of Jesus’s prayer life and His obedience to what He learned, a watching world came to know and experience the wonders and the truths of the father. In John 14:9-10 Jesus proclaims, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” and “the Father who dwells in Me does the works.” When Jesus spoke these word He went on to makes this surprising statement to His disciples in John 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” God’s intention was for the disciples to do even greater in their lives than Jesus had done.
Then Jesus very carefully linked the accomplishment of these greater works to the disciples’ prayer life in John 14:13-14 “And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” As the father heard and answered Jesus when He prayed, Jesus said that He would answer the disciples when they prayed, and in doing this, the father would be glorified.
This is God’s intention for us today as well. In a day when there is a lot of prayer, are we also seeing greater works as a result of our prayers?
