60 Days of Prayer ~ Day 21

60 Days of Prayer ~ Day 21

Day 21. Committed. Where do you draw the line between fully and slightly committed? Western Christians have become very comfortable in our religious levels of this. Wow- that is blunt…but true. Let’s take it even closer to home. I have become comfortable through the years with my level of being committed to things. Yes, level, because that’s how we roll. There is a level of commitment in our relationships, work, church, Warrior Family, Chaplaincy, and to get to the point, our relationship with the King. Now it doesn’t mean you and I don’t love the Lord. That’s not the issue. The issue is that level of being committed. For me, there are certain verses for years that are written that speak to me on such a deep level. The ones I can’t shake that will come into my head and heart over and over. One is what James writes about teachers and preachers of the Word. That verse alone taught me the fear of the Lord. It is not one to take lightly. Then there is the one that is written about the Spirit of God searching for hearts that are committed. It actually says, ““The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” (First part 2 Chronicles 16:9). And of course, the Lord can drive points home in ways we relate. For instance, there is a song by Mercy Me that’s called Here Am I, Send Me that touched me to the core, that I would crank up and use as a prayer to the Father. But I knew, He was asking me for a much deeper level of commitment than the level I was at in a time when my life was in chaos. He was searching my heart to strengthen me for the work yet to come. Committed. Now, He is asking me for more. He is asking you for more. He is searching your heart even as you read this, to strengthen you for the higher level of being committed.
